The American Animal Hospital Association is an organization which has developed strict regulations for hospital maintenance, record keeping and procedures. Fewer than one-fifth of veterinary practices in the United States qualify for membership. We are proud to have maintained our AAHA status since 1986, assuring you the highest standard of care.
We have been a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association since 1944.The Oath of The AVMA is : “Being admitted to the profession of veterinary medicine, I solemnly swear to use my scientific knowledge and skill for the benefit of society through the protection of animal health, the relief of animal suffering, the conservation of livestock resources, the promotion of public health, and the advancement of medical knowledge. I will practice my profession conscientiously, with dignity, and in keeping with the principles of veterinary medical ethics. I accept as a lifelong obligation the continual improvement of my professional knowledge and competence.”
We have been members of the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association since 1944. The IVMA, founded in 1889, promotes continuing education for the veterinarians in Indiana and acts as a liaison for practitioners, Purdue veterinary schools, and the state veterinarian.
The State Board of Animal Health was founded in 1889. This organization is the regulatory board for veterinarians in the state of Indiana. Dr. McAfee was appointed to the board in 1998 by Governor Bayh. He is currently the Past-President of the State Board of Animal Health.
The Calumet Area Veterinary Medical Association was formed in 1958. Our Clinic was a founding member. The CAVMA is active in promoting quality veterinary medicine in Northwest Indiana.
